Bio Med Sciences’ proprietary Silon® technology forms an interpenetrating polymer network of silicone and Teflon* (polytetrafluoroethylene or PTFE). PTFE provides an internal reinforcing mechanism, allowing very thin sheets of soft silicone that have significantly improved durability.

This microscopic “weave” of two polymers has been engineered into innovative health care products with a wide variety of physical properties and a natural suitability for skin-contacting applications.

Silon^® Advanced Wound Care products include the Silon-TSR and Silon Dual-Dress brands. These products are engineered for burn treatment, dermatology, long-term care and rehabilitation applications.

Silon-TSR® provides a moist environment for rapid epithelialization and a nonadherent surface for maximum patient comfort. The unique surface properties of Silon-TSR® allow the dressing to gently cling to fragile wounds and surrounding tissue without the use of adhesive—yet, it’s easily removed without causing trauma to the wound.
